JACKSON, Wyo. — The primary election is coming up on Tuesday, Aug. 18. This year’s election will include candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative, Governor, County Commissioner and Coroner.

Wyoming runs a closed primary election, which means voters can only vote for candidates within the party in which they’re registered. May 13 was the deadline to change party affiliation for the primary election. Ballots will vary depending on physical address.

This year, six Democrats are running for three open seats on the County Commission. On the Republican side, only two candidates filed, so they both will advance to the general election.

The County Coroner race is contested on both sides with two Republicans (Krista Nethercott and Russell Nelson) and two Democrats (Dave Hodges and Katrina Clauson).

Early voting opened on July 21 for those that would prefer to cast a ballot sooner. Absentee voting is also open. Those that are not yet registered can register at the polls on election day with proof of residency and ID.
