JACKSON, Wyo. — Another contender for Teton County Coroner, David Hodges, tossed his hat in the ring for the upcoming open role that Dr. Brent Blue will leave open at the end of this term.

“I’ve worked under four different coroners and learned something different from each,” Hodges said. “It would be a privilege and honor to represent Teton County as the next coroner.”

David Hodges worked in the sheriff’s office from 1994 to 2023, all the while maintaining a working relationship with the coroner’s office, spending much of his time as a deputy coroner while there. He told Buckrail that running for coroner feels to him like the culmination of a long career and association with the existing office.

When asked about the competition, which now touts four candidates: Hodges, Katrina Clauson, Russell Nelson and Krista Nethercott. Hodges told Buckrail: “We’re all peers, coworkers and friends. The voting community has an incredible opportunity to have four qualified candidates running for this position, and I think this deonstrates the experience and knowledge of the coroner’s office.”

If elected, Hodges hopes to continue to “better and enhance” the coroner’s office. He didn’t discuss any great paradigm change or significant redirection of policy or procedure, and mentioned that “Dr. Blue gave [the office] a broad and solid foundation [to build upon].”
