GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — Heads up, folks. As part of ongoing construction on Moose-Wilson Road within Grand Teton National Park (GTNP), expect further daytime closures this week.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the road will be closed to cars and cyclists between Murie Ranch Road and the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve (LSRP) entrance from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“The temporary closure will provide construction crews with a dedicated work window to install road base material safely and efficiently without vehicle traffic,” GTNP announced Friday. “Completing this work now will allow the contractor to advance construction north of the LSRP entrance more quickly and resume pilot-car operations that better accommodate access to the LSRP and along the Moose-Wilson Road.”
During the closure, the preserve will be open and accessible from the south only. Murie Ranch and destinations north of the closure will only be accessible from the Moose and Moran entrances.
The park noted that road construction remains on schedule. After the closure this week, expect traffic delays on the road to continue through Labor Day. Traffic will be directed by flaggers while work continues.
