GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — A portion of the Moose-Wilson Road will be closed for a couple of days this week to allow crews to complete a phase of the ongoing road work, while construction on the Teton Park Road Roundabout is expected to begin this week.

Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) stated that the Moose-Wilson closure will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, July 21 and 22, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The road will be closed to both vehicles and cyclists between Murie Ranch Road and the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve (LSRP). The road will reopen to traffic each evening from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

“The temporary closure will provide construction crews with a dedicated work window to install road base material safely and efficiently without vehicle traffic,” GTNP said in the press release. “Completing this work now will allow the contractor to advance construction north of the LSRP entrance more quickly and resume pilot-car operations that better accommodate access to the LSRP and along the Moose-Wilson Road.”

Visitors to the park have experienced delays through the construction zone since the Moose-Wilson Road reopened to through traffic in June. According to the park, significant congestion has occurred within the corridor due to flagging operations, high visitation and limited parking at the preserve.

LSRP will be open and only accessible from the south during closure hours. Murie Ranch and other destinations north of the closure will only be accessible from Moose during the closures. Visitors traveling between Wilson and Moose are directed to take WY22 and US26/89/191.

Construction is also set to begin this week on the new roundabout that will be the northern terminus of the Moose-Wilson Road. The roundabout will be located at the intersection of the Teton Park Road and Menors Ferry Road, just inside the Moose Entrance station.

In a social media post, GTNP stated that visitors should expect delays of up to 20 minutes in both directions near the roundabout construction. Those delays do not include possible wait times for vehicles entering the park at the Moose Entrance station. Visitors are asked to consider using the Moran Entrance to avoid significant construction delays.
