JACKSON, Wyo. — An official recount of all Teton County ballots cast in the general election has affirmed that Teton County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees candidates Keith Gingery, Ashley Sinclair and Stephan Abrams have won the three open seats.

The recount was triggered when results tallied Tuesday night showed an extremely close margin in the school board race. Teton County Clerk Maureen Murphy explained to Buckrail that a state statute requires that “any race with less than 1% of the number of votes cast for the winning candidate receiving the least number of votes cast for that office shall be recounted in the entire district in which the candidates stand for election.”

Election night results yielded the following totals for the four candidates: incumbent Gingery had the lead with 5,428 votes, followed by newcomer Sinclair with 4,861 votes. Incumbent Abrams was just 40 votes behind Sinclair with 4,821 votes, and incumbent Reade Dornan was behind another 48 votes with 4,773 votes.

The results of the recount show very small changes in the vote totals, which do not affect the outcomes of the election. The new totals, dated Nov. 6, show Gingery receiving 5,426 votes (two fewer), Sinclair receiving 4,858 votes (three fewer), Abrams receiving 4,818 votes (three fewer) and Dornan getting 4,770 votes (three fewer).
