Teams of women and children slid through the mud at the Teton County Fair on Thursday night as they attempted to wrestle pigs into barrels. Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer was on the scene as the dirt flew.
Following a touch of controversy and a six-year hiatus, the pig wrestling event returned this summer with new guidelines.
Men age 18 and up are not eligible to compete, due to concerns about animal welfare. Teams of kids and adult women got in the ring this year after taking a required animal-handling course.
The teams of four struggled in the muck to catch a speedy swine and plop it into a barrel.
Coordinators paired smaller pigs with smaller contestants.
According to the Teton County Fair, the winners from each division are as follows:
Peewee Division
First Place: The Night Howlers (Kennan Kelly, Jayce Wohnsen, Camden Roux, Nash Zazzara)
Second Place: The Wild Wolverines (Walker Lakovitch, Tucker Martin, Reagan Lakovitch, Morgan Lakovitch)
Third Place: Cora Epstein, Mary Macinnis, Laura Cole, Isabella Corfield)
Junior Division
First Place: The Bacon Bandits (Camilla Hardeman, Lucy Tibits, Chloe Carr, Luella Stevens)
Second Place: The Bacon-a-tors (Niko Shervin, Ely Young, Case Abel, Kayden Borilla)
Third Place: The Pork Posse (Tyler Wlonsen, Kelvin Wlonsen, Knox Zezera, Knox Dewey)
Teen Division
First Place: The Oinkaholics (Ashlyn Chamberland, Lindsay Bonilla, Lexi Carr, Leah Carr)
Second Place: The Minions (Asa Gangjee, Judah Alfie, Tomas Tijera, Joseph Gray)
Women’s Division
