DRIGGS, Idaho — Heads up, Teton Valley readers.
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality advisory for most of eastern Idaho including Teton County, banning all outdoor burning until air quality improves. The advisory is in effect through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
“Wildfire smoke will be expanding eastward into Monday,” NWS Pocatello posted to Facebook.
While wildfire smoke is present, air pollutants could cause breathing difficulties for members of sensitive groups like children and the elderly. See these tips for dealing with smoky air.
“Individuals who are sensitive to increased particulate matter or smoke are encouraged to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity during this advisory,” NWS advised. “Open burning is prohibited by air quality rule. It is also recommended that all other individuals limit prolonged or strenuous activity outdoors.”
