Truck driver hit and killed after walking out into highway

WYOMING –Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched this morning at 6:32am to milepost 29 on Highway 59 near Bill, Wyoming for a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Investigators say a 2013 Ford F-350 truck was traveling northbound on Wyoming 59. The driver observed a semi tractor-trailer stopped in the driving lane. The Ford merged into the southbound lane to drive around the broken down semi tractor-trailer. The driver of the semi exited his vehicle and did not see the Ford pickup truck. The driver of the semi walked into the southbound lane of travel where he was hit by the pickup.

The driver of the semi tractor-trailer succumbed to injuries at the scene of the crash. His name will not be released until next of kin has been notified.

This is the 4th fatality on Wyoming’s highway in 2019 compared to 1 in 2018, 0 in 2017, and 2 in 2016 to date.
