JACKSON, Wyo. — In recognition of National HIV Testing Day, the Teton County Health Department (TCHD) will host a no-cost HIV testing event on Friday, June 27.

The TCHD’s Sexual and Reproductive Health team invites the community to the testing event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Teton County Health Department, located at 460 East Pearl Ave.

“Observed annually, this day serves to raise awareness about the critical importance of HIV testing and early diagnosis,” TCHD wrote in the announcement. “If you are sexually active, getting tested for STIs gives you powerful information to keep you and your partner healthy.”

According to the TCHD, the test offered at the event is an oral swab and does not require any type of blood draw, with results available in 20 minutes.

The Wyoming Department of Health’s Communicable Disease Unit recommends testing for all sexually active individuals, regardless of the number of partners, as part of an annual health care routine.

Testing for other common sexually transmitted infections (STI) is also available at the TCHD by appointment and can be scheduled by calling (307) 733-6401, option 4.
