JACKSON, Wyo. — Pack some patience when getting around Jackson Hole this weekend — there’s a lot cooking.
Four major events will take place this weekend: Old Bill’s Fun Run and the LOTOJA bike race both fall on Saturday, Sept. 12, amid the 40th anniversary One Fly fishing weekend and the kickoff of the multiday Fall Arts Festival. Expect to engage with a robust crowd of locals and visitors downtown and beyond.
Visit Jackson Hole Executive Director Crista Valentino points out that the mid-September scheduling of the big weekend serves as a potentially well-timed economic boost after the historically slower Labor Day holiday.
“Labor Day has traditionally marked a sharp drop in visitation for us, and that dip hits our locally owned and smaller businesses hardest,” Valentino told Buckrail via email. “So a weekend like this one, landing right after that transition, helps extend our high season and lets those businesses finish summer strong before the quieter fall stretch heading into winter.”
She went on to note that the mix of events — representing outdoor sports, the arts and philanthropy — paints “a pretty good portrait of this place.”
This marks at least the third consecutive year in which the events have overlapped.
