JACKSON, Wyo. — Downtown construction is about to get more intense before it calms down.
Plan some extra time when traveling through the Broadway and Cache corridor, as work crews will be installing new traffic light poles next week. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and contract crews will start setting vertical signal poles, which will impact road access for about four hours on Monday evening. Closures and detours will be in place for the following areas:
- 5 to 7 p.m.: South Millward Street from Broadway Ave. to West Pearl Ave. will be closed. Drivers will be routed around the next block.
- 7 to 9 p.m.: North Millward Street from Broadway Ave. to Deloney Ave. will be closed.
“Currently, this section is already closed for northbound traffic,” WYDOT Resident Engineer Bob Hammond said in a statement, referring to the North Millward Street section. “During the pole installation, southbound drivers will also see a closure for up to two hours and people will be detoured around to the next block.”
On Thursday, work crews will install the four horizontal mast arms across traffic lanes. WYDOT stated that this portion will take place at night, beginning at 8 p.m. No traffic will be permitted under the arms until they are set and secured, so vehicles will be detoured around the next block.
This traffic signal work is park of infrastructure projects relating to drainpipe installation, traffic light replacement, concrete slab repairs and Americans with Disabilities Act pedestrian sidewalk upgrades. The WYDOT statement says that active construction, detours and closures are scheduled to remain in place until Nov. 21.
