JACKSON, Wyo. — Pack some patience when driving near Town Square this autumn.
Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer snapped some photos of the road and sidewalk work that is currently disrupting the flow of traffic downtown.

At the end of September, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) announced that crews would be working on downtown infrastructure projects prior to the arrival of winter weather.
“We tried to time this work to avoid the busy summer season and poor weather in winter,” WYDOT resident engineer Bob Hammond said in the announcement.

WYDOT’s work includes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) pedestrian sidewalk upgrades and the installation of new drain inlets on Broadway Ave. at Cache Street, Glenwood Street and Millward Street. New traffic signals are going up at the Broadway/Millward intersection, too.

To make way for these projects, Broadway traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction and street parking has been limited near the construction area. Commercial vehicles are being detoured away from the work by way of North Jackson Street. Turning onto North Millward Street from Broadway will be limited. Pedestrians should expect changes in sidewalk access; crews will provide alternative pedestrian pathways through the construction areas.
“All active construction, detours, and intersection closures are scheduled to remain in place until Nov. 21, when crews will suspend operations for the winter season,” WYDOT’s announcement states. “Contract crews will return to the site in the spring to complete the remaining project work.”
