JACKSON, Wyo. — A person was flown to an Idaho hospital Wednesday morning after being found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a common area of an apartment building in Jackson, according to a press release from the Town of Jackson.

Officers with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), along with the Teton County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, responded to a call at 11:04 a.m. on Oct. 21.

EMS crews took the individual to St. John’s Health, where the patient was later life-flighted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for further treatment. Their condition has not yet been released.

JPD said its investigation found no ongoing threat to the public, and asked the community to respect the privacy of those affected.

“Our thoughts are with the individual and their loved ones during this difficult time,” JPD said in a statement.
