JACKSON, Wyo. — Youth classes at Dancers’ Workshop (DW) has proven to shape their students in many ways that transfer outside of the classroom.

Young dancers who participate in DW programs grow immensely by learning priceless skills, making lifelong friends, and finding a way to escape from the daily stresses of school to focus on what they love.

Just ask Avery Taylor, 14, who has been a student at Dancers’ Workshop since she was seven.

“I would say it’s an amazing opportunity,” Avery said. “It’s really made me learn about commitment and dedication and finding something to go do when you’re stressed.”

“Commitment, discipline, creativity, confidence, and leadership,” are some of the main skills she has picked up according to Amy Taylor, Avery’s mother.

On top of the priceless skills and experience gained over the years of taking classes at Dancers’ Workshop, Avery has also witnessed first-hand how dancing can be turned into a career. DW hosts visiting artists, such as the New York City Ballet, who spend time and interact with the students. Some classes even get to perform with the professional artists.

DW’s faculty also bring their own extensive professional experience to the program. “For Avery, to see what her instructors have accomplished and what they’re doing now is great; to have a model to see what they can do professionally in dance,” Kevin Taylor, Avery’s father stated. “To have that level of staff here in rural Wyoming is incredible.”

Registration is now open for The School at Dancers’ Workshop Fall 2020 Semester.

Over her seven years taking classes at Dancers’ Workshop, Avery has grown from a young dancer to someone who can offer guidance, help, and motivation to newcomers like she once was.

“I feel like the people I’m closest to in life, and maintain a connection with, are people from Dancers’ Workshop. I know in the future they’ll be there and we spend so much time together. It really builds a connection that can’t be broken easily,” said Avery.

Dancers’ Workshop has been working around the clock to make sure that students can continue their development as dancers and people. The safety of students, instructors, staff, families, and community is Dancers’ Workshop’s top priority. Every decision is made with care and intention to keep everyone safe and dancing.

Classes will be held in-person with as many students as can be safely accommodated in a studio at one time, keeping distances according to current guidelines. Masks will be required and rotating pods between studio and Zoom will be implemented as necessary for safety and to maximize studio time.

Virtual options will also be available for those who are not comfortable in-studio.

Specific protocols will be posted prior to opening day on September 8 and will be continually adjusted to suit conditions.
