WILSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) shared a Teton Pass update on Thursday, June 20, noting that construction work on the detour project will carry on this weekend with a goal of opening the detour “by the end of next week.”
Crews will begin hauling crushed base and asphalt to milepost 12.8 on Friday, June 21, according to the announcement. WYDOT requests that bicyclists and recreators stay off of the Teton Pass roadway this weekend, and encourages them to use the pathway or Old Pass Road instead.
“Officials hope to have the detour paved and the detour opened to traffic by the end of next week,” WYDOT’s update said. “More updates on what day that will take place will be available next week. … What speed and restrictions that will be in place when the detour opens will be available next week. There will be advanced signage warning drivers of the reduced speed and any other applicable restrictions.”
Previously announced plans for the detour projected that it could be usable “within two weeks” of the initial response to the closure, an estimate shared on June 11. Completion by the end of next week would adhere pretty closely to that timeline.
