Winter parking in effect tomorrow Sunday, Nov. 1

JACKSON, Wyo. — Like it or not, winter has arrived according to the Jackson Police Department.

Winter parking restrictions take effect Sunday, November 1. From Nov 1–April 15, overnight parking is not allowed on Jackson streets to allow for snow removal and winter street operations. Cars parked on the streets between 3–7 a.m. may be ticketed or towed.

Even a few illegally parked cars slow down slow removal, and ultimately costs everyone more money, JPD says.

Parking restrictions are in place regardless of weather conditions. So, you’re not off the hook even if it doesn’t snow one night.

The winter parking ban is in place because of the potential for snowfall in the region. Snow can only efficiently and cost-effectively be cleared at night from lots and streets that are empty of cars. After a storm, public works crews spend up to a week hauling snow and laying gravel to keep our streets in good condition. It is neither safe nor efficient for cars to be parked on the street while this work is being completed.

Please park off of the street or in the town parking structure on Millward Avenue from 3–7 a.m. Note: The parking structure has a 48-hour limit.
