TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — This Sunday, Aug. 20, will wrap up the 13th season of free summer concerts at Teton Village. To close out this edition of Concerts on the Commons, two reggae bands will take the stage.

Due to travel issues, the originally booked Abyssinians will unfortunately not be able to perform this Sunday’s concert. The reggae legends that were scheduled at Saturday’s Reggae on the Rocks at Red Rocks Amphitheatre have been replaced with another Roots legend band, at both events.

Known the world over as Jamaica’s legendary harmony trio, The Meditations captured the hearts of reggae fans around the world.

The Meditations began with collaborations with Lee Scratch Perry. Scratch, who produced for Bob Marley and the Wailers, asked them to do back up vocals for “Punky Reggae Party,” featuring Bob on led vocals. Bob Marley was so pleased with their harmony that he went in search for the group to do more back up vocals for him. It is said by many that “the Meditations is Bob Marley’s favorite group,” which led to Bob requesting harmony and background vocals on songs like “Rastaman Live Up” and “Blackman Redemption.” The Meditations’ harmonic vocals can be heard on such tracks as “Bongo Man Youths Them A Cry” by Jimmy Cliffs and “Mr. Cop” by Gregory Isaacs. Expect to hear some favorite reggae tracks along with the group’s originals, as well.

This week’s opening act is Chanman Roots Band, are the area’s premier reggae outfit, performing in and around the Tetons since 2006.

Food and drink will be available from vendors the Mangy Moose and Provisions food trolley, plus take-out from all Teton Village restaurants. Shows are rain or shine, start at 5 p.m., and are always free. Picnics are welcome. Please leave your dogs and glass containers at home. More info at concertsoncommons.com or jacksonhole.com/concerts-on-the-commons.
