GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — It’s Grand Teton National Park season!

GTNP has opened Teton Park Road to vehicles today, marking the beginning of visitor season in the park.

As part of its opening festivities, GTNP will host a free Junior Ranger Day event on Saturday, May 2. Attendees can expect park-themed games and hands-on learning stations surrounding the theme of learning “how small hands can make a big difference and how everyone, young and old, can help ensure this park is preserved long into the future.”

While the main vein through the park will be open, not every park facility will be. Check the operating dates for specific destinations before venturing out. Note that Moose-Wilson Road is open between the Granite entrance and the Rockefeller Preserve, but closed between the preserve and the Sawmill Ponds. That segment is expected to open on June 20, per the park.

The road will remain open until its annual seasonal closure on Nov. 1. Since closing for the season last November, Teton Park Road hosted pedestrians, cyclists and dogs when the road was clear of snow.
