GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — To kick off visitor season in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP), kids and families are invited to the park’s Junior Ranger Day festivities on Saturday, May 2.
“This Junior Ranger Day, we’re exploring the many ways YOU can help protect the park, from preserving the sagebrush ecosystem to protecting our wildlife,” GTNP’s event announcement states. “Through engaging activities, you’ll discover ways to leave no trace, stay safe, respect wildlife, and share your knowledge of the park! Learn how small hands can make a big difference and how everyone, young and old, can help ensure this park is preserved long into the future.”
Attendees can expect park-themed games and hands-on learning stations, the chance to interact with park staff and see rescue vehicles up close, and other indoor and outdoor activities and exhibits. Kids can earn a coveted Junior Ranger Day badge through participation.
Other educational exhibits will be presented by the Teton Raptor Center, Wyoming Stargazing, Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation, Teton County Weed and Pest and Teton Science Schools.
Junior Ranger Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center. Teton Park Road is expected to open for the season on Friday, May 1.
