JACKSON, Wyo. — Heads up, commuters.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) announced Thursday that it will begin milling and paving sections of WY22 between the Y intersection (with US89) and the base of Teton Pass, using contract crews from Avail Valley Construction. Work will begin the evening of Monday, Aug. 10, and is expected to continue for roughly four weeks.
“During daytime hours, crews will maintain two lanes of travel, one in each direction,” WYDOT’s announcement states. “Work that requires traffic to be reduced to one, alternating lane will take place at night, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.”
WYDOT advises drivers to prepare for potential delays of up to 20 minutes at a time.
“We have asked the contractor to do much of the milling and paving at night, knowing that reducing the traffic to only one lane during the day would completely congest the area,” WYDOT Resident Engineer Bob Hammond said, later adding, “But we hope that people will stay alert and watch for construction work and people both day and night.”
