JACKSON, Wyo. — It’s looking hazy out there.
Smoke from multiple wildfires has turned the sky gray and the sun orange Thursday morning. The National Weather Service issued an air quality alert for wildfire smoke affecting all of western and central Wyoming; the rest of the state is under a red flag warning, meaning critical fire weather is expected.
AirNow.gov reports “moderate” air quality for downtown Jackson, with instances of “unhealthy” quality dotting the area south of the valley.

Buckrail Meteorologist Alan Smith noted yesterday that wildfire smoke blowing in from Oregon is part of the problem. Potential increases in wind could blow more smoke this way in the coming days.
