All Backcountry gates at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort are closed until further notice. Bill Lewkowitz from JHMR released a statement this morning "The mountains around the Jackson Hole area have received over 4 feet of snow in the last 3 days, with 3-4 more feet anticipated in coming days. The current Teton area avalanche forecast is high at all elevations and backcountry travel is not recommended. Grand Teton National Park officials and Teton County Search and Rescue have requested that the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) close all backcountry gates until further notice. JHMR will be honoring their requests and closing all of our backcountry gates, until further notice. This closure includes all gates that provide access to the Granite Creek drainage and all gates to the south of the resorts boundaries. Please respect these closures and stay safe. Thank you." The Bridger Teton Avalanche Center forecast for today is HIGH avalanche danger, An avalanche warning is in effect. Avalanche conditions are very dangerous. Large to very large natural avalanche events are likely on a variety of aspects. Widespread natural avalanche activity is possible.
