HOBACK, Wyo. — The historic Astoria ‘Red Bridge’ will be closed today through Thursday, Oct. 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Work crews are currently painting the bridge. As a result, travelers must take the approved emergency access route via Hoback Junction.
Directions: Heading south from Jackson toward Alpine, after the roundabout, take your immediate left before the bridge over the Snake River onto Hoback Junction South Road. If you’re driving from Alpine, your drive time will be about 20 minutes longer than normal.
It is important to note that this is a rough road and travelers should drive at 15 mph. There are sections of one-way traffic, and there may be construction delays on this route. Please be safe and respect the local residents Drive slow, and give yourself more time to arrive to Astoria.
