STAR VALLEY, Wyo. — Star Valley Health recently launched a new MyChart portal, offering patients an easy-to-use platform to access their healthcare information and engage with their providers.

The patient portal, created by healthcare software company Epic, is free and available by phone, tablet or computer. Patients can use their MyChart account to schedule appointments, request prescription refills, view their lab results and send messages to their care team.

“MyChart improves the communication and connectivity between patients and providers and gives patients more visibility into their lab results and appointment notes,” Jeremy Price, vice president of provider services, said.

“As a dad, I’m able to get my children’s immunization records right from my cell phone,” Price said. “When I need a medication refill I can go to my phone and just tap a button. The nice thing is it goes to my doctor. He can just look at it and send my refill over. It’s streamlined so many pieces of the healthcare process and really helps put more power into the patient’s hand.”

From annual wellness exams to immunization records and radiology results, the MyChart portal stores patient information in one place. Patients with children or who serve as caregivers can link their loved one’s accounts, providing an organized snapshot of appointments and health insights. And the ability to use MyChart to schedule appointments and request prescription refills provides a more streamlined patient experience.

MyChart portal is a new patient portal platform offered by Star Valley Health allowing users to access healthcare information and engage with their providers.

Star Valley Health’s MyChart portal also includes messaging, allowing patients to correspond directly with their care team. Patients can send and receive messages, along with files and photos. Responses are displayed and saved in the portal, which can be especially helpful for patients who see multiple specialists.

MyChart message response time is two to three business days, and messages are not responded to in the evenings, weekends or when offices are closed. Although most messages are free, those that require extensive time on behalf of the provider may be billed to the patient’s insurer as a “medical advice message” or virtual care service.

In addition to enhancing patient care for locals, the MyChart portal benefits seasonal residents and visitors to the valley, too. According to Epic, over 150 million patients currently manage their healthcare with MyChart. Should sojourners using MyChart require care or experience an emergency while in Star Valley, records can be easily accessed by local providers.

“We’ll be able to have a better continuity of care for patients,” said Price.

Patients can now create their MyChart account at www.StarValleyHealth.org.
