JACKSON, Wyo. — Star Valley Health will offer tours of their Alpine clinic’s new suites on Jan. 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with clinic staff, and light refreshments will be served.

“For decades, residents in the lower valley had to travel sizable distances to either Afton, Jackson or Idaho Falls to have access to emergency and surgical services,” Star Valley Health CEO Dan Ordyna says about the development in Alpine. “These high-end healthcare services are now conveniently located directly in Alpine in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility. It’s a game changer for the Star Valley.”

The new expansion comes less than three years after the Alpine clinic’s grand opening in 2022.

“We’ve been so blessed to have a great team and a great design and construction team,” says Senior Vice President of Business Development Mike Hunsaker. “The project has gone very smoothly.”

The new services will include a cardiac catheterization lab, or cath lab. A cardiac cath lab is a specialized suite for diagnostics and minimally invasive procedures, such as angiography or stent placement.

“We’ll be offering cardiac catheterizations,” explains Hunsaker. “We’ll be doing pacemakers. We’ll be offering those types of services that are sorely needed in our community.”

“It’s a game changer for the Star Valley.”

Patients will also be able to schedule outpatient procedures, ranging from endoscopies to shoulder replacements. The cath lab and operating room will serve as a hybrid space, where rooms can be arranged and equipped depending on the need.

Another critical service new to the Alpine clinic will be a 24/7 ER designed with Wyoming’s climate in mind.

“We’ve built an enclosed ambulance bay so that our patients aren’t subject to the weather conditions that exist here, especially in the wintertime,” says Hunsaker. “The patient has more privacy, they’re shielded from the elements and we can get them right into the ER.”

The Alpine clinic’s pre-existing services of primary care and urgent care will still be available. Specialty services like gynecology, audiology and ENT can also still be scheduled.

“Star Valley Health is making multi-million dollar investments in cardiovascular, orthopedic and primary care services,” says Ordyna. “We are not just skating to where the puck is now, but where it is going to be in the next decade. It’s all about preparing for the future.”

Hunsaker describes the new expansion as a reflection of Star Valley Health’s overarching mission. “Trying to serve more people with healthcare access closer to home, that’s really what it’s all about for us.”
