JACKSON, Wyo. — Last Saturday, local artists and organizations gathered for an outdoor community event to kick-off JH Public Art’s annual WildWalls mural exhibit at The Virginian Lodge.
Giant carved woodblock prints were rolled out by a construction drum roller and then auctioned off at the event to benefit partner eco-organizations.
WildWalls is an annual event produced by JH Public Art during which art and science communities aim to raise awareness about pressing ecological stories through murals in public spaces. Blank alley walls are transformed into an open-air gallery from June through September, in a visual, interactive and educational event without the confines of a traditional venue, making it accessible to thousands of people daily.
This year, Jackson’s downtown streets will welcome two permanent murals plus 12 temporary, wheat paste murals (five woodblock prints plus an additional seven images from local artists).
