JACKSON, Wyo. — It’s not an uncommon occurrence in Jackson Hole to see moose in the backyard, and this week Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer spotted a hoofed neighbor from a cabin near Grand Teton National Park.

Make no moose-take, even if a wild animal decides to pay a visit, people always need to give ungulates at least 25 yards of space and always refrain from touching or feeding all species. Jackson Hole’s current moose population is down 70 percent from what it was in the 1980s, according to a previous interview with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD).

While Sulzer confirms the moose didn’t appear to be collared, WGFD is currently operating Jackson’s first moose collaring program.
