JACKSON HOLE, WYO – More than a few bone-chilled and weary shed hunters are emerging from the forest this morning with a payload they had hoped for. Others can’t believe they were skunked but likely enjoyed the experience anyway.
Dozens and dozens of vehicles lined town streets last night on their way through the Elk Refuge to be ready for annual antler run beginning at the stroke of midnight. A dusting of snow made many second guess making the long journey, saddling hairy horses sassy from a winter of little use, and forging out into the night in search of wapiti headgear.
But raking in racks is big bucks these days, and after a winter like this past one getting out into the woods is a welcome experience…even when it’s 24 degrees.
So, antler anglers, how’d you do? Show off your find, send us a photo. We’ll be happy to brag on your behalf.
