JACKSON, Wyo. — The parking lot that was once The Lift — the restaurant that shuttered its doors in 2018 — is the locale of a possible new mixed used building. The proposed building, which would be built at 655 S. Cache Street, was presented to the Planning Commission at a Sept. 16 meeting.

Several commissioners questioned whether the dead-end alley, which is roughly 13 feet wide at its narrowest point, could safely handle traffic, trash trucks and winter plowing. Concerns also pointed to bike lane and Snow King Ave. traffic, as there is no stop sign at the alleyway exit.

On the main level there would be commercial retail space and three deed-restricted units, the second and third floors would consist of eight short-term rentals, two restricted workforce units, and eight long-term market rate units.

In total, the building would be around 50,000 square feet.

After deliberation, the commission motioned to continue the review of the project, asking Town Staff for more information regarding traffic, trash service, snow removal and bicycle and pedestrian safety tied to the project’s proposed alley access.
