JACKSON, Wyo. — On Monday, June 16, Town Council approved a request from the Jackson Hole Farmers Market to expand its vendor space onto East Broadway Ave. for the 2025 season.

According to the Town of Jackson, the Farmers Market has traditionally operated on the south and east sides of the Town Square. Organizers have proposed expanding vendor space due to increased demand. With the approval, this summer’s site plan will include over 60 vendors, expanding east onto Broadway.

Jackson Hole Farmers Market Executive Director/Market Manager Jenny May Shervin told Town Council that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the farmers market operated on East Broadway Ave. for approximately 20 years. The proposal would return the market to a footprint that was used for two decades, according to May Shervin.

Mayor Arne Jorgensen said that while he supports the expansion, there needs to be a set vendor limit.

“There are an unlimited number of vendors who would like to use the space,” Jorgensen said. “Just because there’s a demand, it doesn’t mean we have to provide more space. We do need to set a limit.”

Town Council also brought up public concerns that the expansion could cause a traffic detour around Town Square. Town of Jackson Chief of Police Michelle Weber said that drivers would still be able to drive around Town Square, but barriers will be needed.

Town Council approved an amendment that requires the applicant to report back at the end of the season.

The first Jackson Hole Farmers Market is scheduled for Saturday, June 28.
