JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Having moved from Jackson Hole to Nashville in 1986, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brent Moyer makes a pilgrimage each year to reconnect with the Jackson music scene. Known to many as the Global Cowboy, Moyer has released a total of fifteen albums, including eight on the Swiss-based Brambus Records. The local celebration for his 2019 release, Doing Better Now, is 7:30 to 11 p.m. this Thursday at the Silver Dollar Showroom.

Upon landing in Tennessee, Moyer established himself as a go-to guitarist as well as an accomplished trumpet player. That led to breakthrough opportunities like playing guitar for country music legend Lynn Anderson, performing on Broadway in New York City, and being casted as a member of the hit Broadway Show, Ring of Fire, the songs of Johnny Cash. The twelve-song set on Doing Better Now is a blend of country and Americana with Moyer’s rich Baritone. Moyer offered a glimpse into some of the tracks that feature some of Nashville’s most prolific writers…

– Joe Collins (has cuts by Rascal Flats, Lee Brice, Randy Travis, Billy Ray Cyrus) chimes in on “Sure Felt That Way,” an ear-candy, country-pop tune, and the rocking and rolling Halfway There.
– John Hadley (has cuts by George Jones, Roger Miller, Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks, Joe Cocker) contributes with “Stop Boude’,” a fun cajun romp with smoking fiddle and accordion and Big Yellow Moon that’ll leave you lighthearted and singing along.
– “Just To See The Other Side” is a lively ramble, composed with Thomm Jutz (has cuts by Nanci Griffith, John Prine, Marty Stuart), that rips along with Thomm’s splendid guitar work and Charlie Slavik’s harmonica.
– The title track, “I’m Doing Better Now,” co-written with Aaron Raitiere (has several cuts on Miranda Lambert’s last album and co-writer on the searing “I’ll Never Love Again” from a Star Is Born), captivates with beautiful harmonies by Anne McCue, giving it an old-time, swing-band feel.
– “Broke A Lot of Mirrors,” written with Ron Kimbro, is stone-cold country while Lawrenceburg takes a stroll down memory lane.
– The dark and spooky “Not About Nice” was penned with Bob Saporiti and Denise Fussell and Snowblind is a latin-fused instrumental and spotlights country superstar Crystal Gayle’s bandleader, Jay Patten on sax.
