JACKSON, Wyo. — On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Poppy and Jackson Hole Women in Finance are hosting the free event, Women & Wealth, to help empower women with managing their finances.
The event will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Poppy (a coworking space dedicated to women), located on 120 W Pearl Ave.
Heather Loomis, Founder and Managing Partner of Loomis Capital Management, will lead the discussion on navigating the evolving financial landscape.
According to Poppy Founder Heather Smith, the economic system is not set up for women to achieve. Attendees will learn actionable strategies to confidently manage their finances, reduce financial dependency and build lasting wealth.
Smith told Buckrail that the wage gap remains a significant barrier to wealth accumulation for women. She said that, on average, women earn 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. This gap is even wider for women of color, with Latina women earning just 51 cents on the dollar compared to white, non-Hispanic men.
Smith added that over time, wage discrepancies lead to substantial differences in retirement savings, investment opportunities and overall financial security.
