Wyoming Highway Patrol was called out on June 29 to milepost 3 on County Road 334/Seventeen Mile Road near Riverton, Wyo.  At 10:50pm, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

A 2002 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on Seventeen Mile Road at approximately 55 mph when a female pedestrian ran out in front of the vehicle, while waving her arms over her head. The driver of the vehicle first observed the pedestrian as she ran across the center yellow line on the roadway. The driver attempted to swerve to the right to miss the pedestrian but was unable to do so.

The Ford Explorer collided with the pedestrian and the impact to the pedestrian caused her to vault into the eastbound lane of travel. The pedestrian was succumbed to her injuries at the scene. None of occupants within the Ford Explorer sustained injuries.

The pedestrian has been identified as Rani Ridgley, 39, St. Stephens.
