PINEDALE, WY— In classic Wyoming fashion, Pinedale’s 3rd annual Wind River Mountain Festival will bring live music and outdoor adventure together in one action-packed weekend.
The Wind River Mountain Range is one of Wyoming’s most sought-after destinations, and the perfect host for a weekend of celebration. Wind River Mountain Fest returns July 20-22, and will feature everything from live music, to gear demos from more than 50 sponsors, to kids events and a craft beer festival. Fun vendor booths, outdoor contests and floats down Pine Creek are also part of the festival.
The most “adventure” part of the weekend is the Surly Pika Adventure Race, which is neither a triathlon nor a relay. Inspired by the high-mountain mammals, otherwise known as coneys or rock rabbits, the Surly Pika Adventure Race is a team-based adventure race in the front-country of the largest mountain range in the state. Team members (Pikas) must navigate with map and compass to track down checkpoints via bike, foot, and boat. There are two race divisions: a six and a twelve-hour option. The Surly Pika will be held Sunday July 22 and online sign ups are available here.
Headlining the music portion of the two-night festival will be Utah’s “Cowboy from the Crypt” Timmy the Teeth and his full band on Friday night and Phoenix Indie-Rockers Jared & the Mill on Saturday night. Music will kick off at Legion Park at 4:00 p.m. on both nights.
Friday Night Full Music Lineup:
4:00 PM: Jason Tyler Burton
Jason Tyler Burton is a wanderer, a soul-searching adventurer who writes songs about the journey. His songs and stories are heart felt, reflecting a search for meaning and home, with a voice and lyrics that invite you to lean in a little, and really listen.
5:30 PM: Whippoorwill
Whippoorwill is in their element with raw, authentic, stripped-down performances that nod to icons Neil Young and Lucinda Williams. There is spirituality steeped in the country backdrops they write from and a deep reverence for the landscapes that raised them.
6:45 PM: Timmy The Teeth
A self-described “Cowboy from the Crypt,” Timmy The Teeth has unknowingly found his way to the forefront of a new musical brand as genuine as his personality. Drawing from a tradition that spans a great deal of the traditional American songbook, Timmy sings about the kinds of things we’re all thinking but not saying.

Saturday Night Music Lineup:
4:00 PM: Aaron Davis & The Mystery Machine
Native to Kentucky and based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for over fifteen years, Davis is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and co-founder of decade long Americana touring band Screen Door Porch.

5:30 PM: The 502s
Dynamic, Florida folk music highlighted by booming stomps, upbeat tunes, and melodious vocals that ooze camaraderie.
6:45 PM: Jared & The Mill
The Phoenix five-piece Jared & The Mill manages to be one of those outfits to stamp their distinctiveness, employing and expanding upon previously understated textures in Americana folk. With beautiful lyrics, nearly perfect harmony, intense stage presence, and endearing personalities, Jared & the Mill have been enchanting audiences for the better part of a decade.
The Wind River Range is home to over 140 miles of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). In February of 2016, Pinedale was officially accepted as Wyoming’s first CDT Community – a designation reserved for communities in close proximity to the Trail that apply through the CDT Coalition and promise to promote good stewardship and, among other things, plan a corresponding event, which has blossomed into the 3-day festival.
