TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — In 2023, Joey Chestnut won Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest for the fifteenth time, putting away 63 hot dogs in 10 minutes. But how many Bear Dogs could he have eaten?

At noon on Saturday, March 9, hungry skiers and snowboarders will descend upon Jackson Hole Mountain Resort‘s Bear Flats Snack Shack for the Bear Fight, an epic hot dog eating contest. Bear Dogs aren’t just any old ballpark hot dog. These things are big.

First-place winners from the men’s and women’s categories will win a pair of skis. There will be a small jump near the base of the Sublette chairlift to showcase hot dog tricks. Come watch all the fun! 

The ground rules:

  • Contestant must be 18 year or older to participate in competition.
  • Contestants will have 12 minutes to eat as many Bear Dogs as possible.
  • Contestants cannot touch bear dogs until start on competition.
  • Bear Dogs must be eaten with all hot dog and bun included.
  • Water is provided, contestants can have drink of choice for competition at their own expense.
  • Utensils cannot be used.
  • Partially eaten Bear Dogs will be counted in quarters.

The Bear Flats Snack Shack is located at the base of the Sublette chairlift.
