A message from St. John’s Health Board candidate Shannon A. Brennan:
JACKSON, Wyo. — St. John’s Health (SJH) plays a role for all of us. We rely on it for planned and unplanned medical and healthcare needs. I want to ensure it is accessible and available to all – now, and in the future.
In our community, we have all the underpinnings to maintain a first class, small hospital. We have a manageable service area. We have a beautiful campus. We have several significant and generous philanthropic organizations to address special needs of SJH. SJH’s Board of Directors has made significant inroads in addressing current needs such as workforce housing, retirement housing, i.e. Sage Living, and much more.
We cannot rest on our laurels, however, expecting that things will remain the same in Jackson. With the additional people from diverse backgrounds that are choosing to make this their home, we have the chance to embrace new ways of doing business, adding more medical capabilities, acquiring state-of-the-art equipment and software for diagnostics and medical intervention, and applying new technologies to further streamline administrative activities like billing and record-keeping. We need to keep up the pace.
It’s a new day. Let’s bring fresh, new vision and energy to the leadership at SJH. My goal is to ensure the highest level of care to all residents that is reasonably possible and at reasonable costs. I will continue to push for more transparency with you, the public. My signature focus as a Board member will be to encourage a visible shift to a patient-centered culture, a relatively new phenomena in health care delivery, in which the total needs of the patient and family – physical, emotional, mental, social – are addressed so as to better serve the “whole patient.”
I have 35 years of experience in large-scale, energy management projects, hold an MA in Public and Hospital Administration, am Stanford-certified in advanced project management, served with the Wyoming Health Systems Agency, am a Senior Fellow at the Washington DC-based Partnership for Public Service, serve on the Governor’s Ground Water Advisory Committee, and am a member of the Teton County Board of Health.
I am asking for your vote, as this election comes to a close. SJH Board needs active, engaged, and energetic members to meet future challenges. I have the credentials and experience to influence, lead, and oversee the management of the hospital as a member of the Board. Most of all, I am dedicated to the people of Teton County and their hopes and dreams to enjoy all that the valley has to offer. I am one of you.
