VICTOR, Idaho — There’s two more shows left of the season at Music on Main, and the best advice: Don’t skip out on Lindsay Lou with opener Lonesome Ace Stringband this week!
Coming off a week of Targhee Music Camp up at Grand Targhee, both bluegrass acts will bring everything to the Victor City Park from hard-driving, old-time feels to delicate harmonies — some have even described Lou’s voice as a “molasses-sweet instrument.”
In the words of famed bluegrass musician David Grier, who caught Lindsay Lou and her band at a recent festival, “Lindsay … sings the way you would want to if’n you could. Phrasing, tone, emotion, it’s all there. Effortless seemingly. Simply mesmerizing. Riveting! Don’t miss the musical force that is Lindsay Lou.”
Touring nationally and internationally year-round, Lindsay Lou and her band continue to collect a mass of friends and fans along the way. Her notable U.S. festival stops include Telluride Bluegrass festival, Merlefest, Stagecoach, Redwing, ROMP, GreyFox and a slew of others.
An undeniable powerhouse, Lou’s remarkable gifts as a singer, songwriter, musician and performer demand the listener’s attention. Her singing floats over the masterful playing and deep groove of her band with both a fierce intensity and a tender intimacy.
Opening up the evening is Canadian group Lonesome Ace Stringband, a trio known for their unique blend of old-time, bluegrass and folk music, characterized by their original material and captivating harmonies. They distinguish themselves with a stripped-down instrumentation of fiddle, clawhammer banjo and upright bass, which creates a powerful yet nuanced sound.
Self described as three Canadians lost in the weird and wonderful traditional country music of the American South, the band members Chris Coole on banjo and John Showman on fiddle will be joined by local musician Ben Winship on bass for this week’s show.
The last raffle of the season starts this week with two opportunities to garner a 2025-26 winter season pass from Grand Targhee Resort! Tickets are for sale online. Winners will be drawn during the final concert of the season with Bozeman ska band Hornbread on Aug. 14, just 99 days from opening day at The Ghee!
As Music on Main closes out the 20th anniversary season, Teton Valley Foundation wants to remind everyone to make their $20 for 20 years donation to receive a free anniversary poster while supplies last.
