WILSON, Wyo. — Emergency responders were mobilized just before 8 a.m. Friday to tackle a fire in the Aspens neighborhood.
Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Matthew Redwine told Buckrail the fire was still being investigated as of noon. Crews responded to the three-story building to find that a fire had broken out in a party wall between two units (only one of which was occupied), making its way into the roof. Redwine said he was grateful the “super dangerous roof operations” could be conducted during daylight. He noted he was proud of the team for a “great save,” mitigating the fire safely and slowly.
“I was definitely concerned if there was an ember shower, it would be a problem for the neighbors,” Redwine said. Fire danger at this hot, dry time of year is high.
The fire was considered handled by 8:58 a.m., and fire units cleared the scene around 11. No injuries were reporter. The response included bringing ladders indoors to handle the vaulted ceilings. Crews found charred wood in the party wall on the first, second and third floor.
Redwine said he didn’t think the blaze was related to the current heat wave, but he did emphasize that people should be aware of heat exhaustion as temperatures climb on Saturday and Sunday.
