JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson’s (TOJ) Public Works Department announced on Monday, Feb. 3, that snow plowers have been working around the clock to keep streets safe following significant snow and rain.
TOJ said in the announcement that it’s “grateful for everyone’s understanding as we do the best we can to plow, break up ice, sand and get the rain and melting snow flowing into gutters again.”
According to the TOJ, the most recent storm cycle with heavy snow followed by warmer temperatures and rain has been extremely challenging for plows and snow maintenance. Making it worse, the preceding weeks of below zero temperatures means that pavement remains frozen even though the air has warmed up.
“Our team has plowed streets from 2 to 5 a.m. each of the last early mornings, which may, unfortunately, be hard to tell given current weather conditions,” the Town of Jackson said via press release. “Crews are focusing on removing slush and snow from roadways, making sure storm drains are open and free from snow and ice to take stormwater runoff and ensuring flooding does not occur.”
The TOJ reminds travelers to exercise caution while driving and walking and to allow extra time for travel.
