JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town and County’s winter operations teams will be out and about to clean up snow to maintain the safety of streets and sidewalks.

The Public Works’ team begins plowing streets at 2 a.m. when more than three inches of snow accumulates and will prioritize main thoroughfares, bus routes, connectors, the downtown core and hillsides.

Cleanup of snow piles will happen between storms.

Sidewalks plowed will prioritize safe routes to school so community members can walk through the winter months.

The Town requests that residents assist in keeping the sidewalks and streets safe and clear by doing the following:

  • Keep trashcans off of streets and sidewalks until 7 a.m. or later.
  • Pitch in and shovel sidewalks to keep walking routes clear.
  • Give active plows plenty of space. Winter street equipment is much larger than other vehicles. Operators cannot always see what is on the ground near them and may move erratically.
  • Do not park on Town streets between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m.
  • “Adopt” a fire hydrant by shoveling around a hydrant in your neighborhood to keep it clear for potential emergencies.
