JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson is inviting residents to attend a virtual meeting this week to discuss the Town’s Sustainability Plan.

Mayor Hailey Morton Levinson and Council Member Arne Jorgensen will be joined by Ecosystem Stewardship Administrator Tanya Anderson on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 12 p.m.

The Town has a current goal to achieve net zero carbon by 2030. According to the Town, this means working to balance carbon emissions with carbon removal, which can be done by reducing emissions, generating more renewable energy, carbon sequestration, planting trees and purchasing offsets.

The Town produces some of its electricity through solar panels on Town buildings and near the Water Treatment Plant. For the remainder of the municipality’s electricity usage, 100% green energy is purchased from Lower Valley Energy, according to the Town of Jackson.

For locals wishing to get more involved, the Town of Jackson is forming an action committee to plan Mountain Towns 2030 (MT2030), a two-day annual climate action summit being held for the first time in Jackson on October 15 and 16, 2024.
