JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Town Council revised and updated Title 5 of Jackson’s municipal code during a meeting on April 19. Title 5 covers business licenses and general business regulations.

Most notably, the council passed a resolution establishing an updated ground transportation fare map, creating a “Zone System” for taxi fares.

The new system includes a maximum fare that can be charged, allows taxis to charge $4.00 for additional passengers above four persons, and utilizes an average rate of $3.15 per mile. According to the Town of Jackson, the average cost per mile for taxis nationally falls between $2.50 and $3.50.

For example, within zone 1, which includes all properties within the Town of Jackson corporate limits, the maximum fare is $15. Complete fee information based on zones can be found here.

The Town has regulated taxi fares since 2008. Changes to Title 5 are in effect as of April 20.
