PINEDALE, Wyo. —Tip Top Search and Rescue is seeking public assistance to locate a 64-year-old man, John Diepholz.

Diepholz was last seen in the Wind River Range out of the  Elkhart Park trailhead within the Wall Lake area. His last communication with his family was around Aug. 5 when he entered the backcountry.

Diepholz is 6’4” tall and 170 pounds with longer grey and brown hair. He is believed to be carrying a red or blue backpack and possessing a bright yellow tent.

Tip Top Search & Rescue was notified by a family member when Diepholz did not communicate when he was supposed to be exiting the backcountry.

Sublette County Sheriff’s Office & Tip Top Search & Rescue are involved in the search. A search helicopter has been used but is currently grounded due to recent weather. According to Tip Top, other search operations are being prepared.
