JACKSON, Wyo. — This week, the Town of Jackson and Teton County along with other local partners, will discuss the county’s Water Quality Master Plan in a meeting open to the public.

Teton County has partnered with Teton Conservation District, Town of Jackson, and Protect Our Water Jackson Hole to undertake a two-year comprehensive water planning effort to protect water quality in Teton County.

“The plan will increase our current understanding of existing and potential future human-induced threats to both surface water and groundwater quality and develop strategies for properly managing them,” says the county.

The team will create a 20-year vision and implementation plan that protects surface water and groundwater resources from future degradation and improves water quality where known degradation is occurring. The plan will address management of wastewater, stormwater, and drinking water, as well as surface and groundwater resources.

“Throughout the two-year planning period, the project partners will coordinate and facilitate stakeholder groups, which will discuss stormwater, wastewater, drinking water and recreation and wildlife.”

The stakeholder group participants will include local businesses, landowners, homeowner associations, nonprofits, water and sewer districts, and technical experts. The team will also coordinate closely with members of federal, state, and local government. All members of the public are invited to participate by sending comments throughout the entirety of the process by emailing: tetonwaterqualityplan@PublicInput.com .

“Protecting the water quality of Jackson and Teton County is essential to the eco-system and scenic beauty that residents and visitors enjoy.”
