JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson (TOJ) Engineering Department announced that the intersection of Pearl Ave. and Millward St. will continue to be closed to prepare for paving work on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Wednesday, Oct. 9.
According to the TOJ, the target is to have the intersection back open for normal operations by the end of the week.
This construction is a continuation of the Millward Waterline Replacement Project, which started in late August to replace the main water pipe from Hansen Ave. through Pearl Ave.
“Crews completed backfilling the watermain, demolished and removed concrete and other materials, prepped the intersection for concrete and paving and poured curbs and gutters,” TOJ Engineering Department said in the announcement.
While the concrete cures in preparation for paving, crews will continue to build the sidewalks at each corner. All scheduling and work is subject to change due to weather, material availability and sub-contractor coordination.
The TOJ asks for pedestrians to look out for wet concrete and re-routes as crews complete the concrete work. Motorists and bicyclists are also advised to seek alternate routes in the vicinity of this construction activity.
“Please be aware of, and obey all construction notification, detour and parking restriction signage as it is there for your safety and the safety of the construction workers,” TOJ said.
According to the TOJ, after pavement work is completed, construction crews will reassess for any remaining concrete work. This could necessitate short closures for concrete pours. There will also be work in the roadway to adjust valve boxes and manholes to the new pavement. Site cleanup and demobilization will follow.
“We are at the end of the project and construction season,” TOJ Engineering Department said. “Hooray!”
