JACKSON, Wyo. — Center for the Arts announced today the addition of two new Resident nonprofit organizations.
Jackson Hole Youth Orchestra/MusicLand is located on the third floor of the Arts and Education Pavilion on the same hallway as the Art Association and Riot Act. Teton Music School is located in the Music Wing.
“We are delighted to welcome these two new groups to The Center, which brings us to six Residents with a primarily musical mission,” said David J. Rothman, The Center’s President and CEO. “As a result of this growth, the music wing is humming with activity. It is wonderful to see so many new faces and to hear music floating through the halls at every hour of the day. We look forward to more.”
Jackson Hole Youth Orchestra / Musicland has been offering Suzuki violin lessons in The Center’s Music Wing for a number of years, so when space came available for rent, the group expressed a quick interest in becoming a long-term Resident. JHYO serves Teton County’s youth with full orchestral performance opportunities and musical scholarships for orchestra participation as well as individual lessons.
Teton Music School was established in 2019 to expand the accessibility of music education within our community, enhancing music education offerings in Jackson, and providing a stable teaching platform for music educators. Currently, Teton Music School has five teachers offering lessons in guitar, cello, viola, violin, piano, ukulele, and drums.
“The Center had the functional spaces we were looking for, and as a bonus, also houses many other arts organizations, opening up a myriad of opportunities to collaborate,” said Kyle Johnson, Director of Teton Music School.
With the addition of JHYO/Musicland and TMS, The Center now houses 21 Residents, which are independent, nonprofit arts and education organizations. The Center provides space to these groups at below-market rental rates in alignment with its mission “to connect our creative community by providing a dedicated campus, supporting excellent programming, and nurturing a collaborative spirit.”
