JACKSON, Wyo. — School’s out for summer, which leaves more time to develop the creative muse. An integral part of digital music production in the 21st century means getting acquainted with powerful software. For young adults twelve to eighteen years of age, Teton Music School is offering a session of Music Production and Digital Recording class with professional musician and Logic Pro ace, Joe Rudd. The School is also offering a Vocal Performance Camp for singers who are ready to take their talents to the next level, led by professional vocalist Lynnette Turner Parry.
Drawing on years of experience as an audio engineer-composer-musician and as a certified Apple professional, Rudd delves into the modern-day world using microphones, keyboards, pads, and computers, to experiment with recording. Students will record drums, bass, rhythms and melodies, then discover the rewards of mixing their own tracks together to create a one-of-a-kind studio performance. Lunch and breaks will take advantage of the Center for the Arts’ Campus. The camp will culminate in a showcase of the student’s compositions.
“If students would like to bring a computer with GarageBand or the equivalent, that’s totally fine and welcomed, though a couple will be provided so its not necessary,” explained Rudd. “I’ll also be incorporating Logic Pro, Ableton, Universal Audio Console, and about a dozen different plug-ins outside of what is native to each of those applications.”
As for the Vocal Performance Camp, Parry will help students pick music to perform from popular hits, Broadway shows, and movies. Parry holds a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Utah State University and has studied with accomplished vocalists Allison Roddy and Kim Wood Sandusky. Live musicians will provide support and accompaniment during the morning and afternoon sessions and students will enjoy the larger Center Campus for lunch and group activities. This camp will focus on both part-singing in groups as well as solo skills, and will culminate in a performance at the end of the week.
