TETON COUNTY, WY — U.S. News and the Aetna Foundation released a ranking of the top 500 Healthiest Communities nationwide, and Teton County is looking pretty healthy in 6th place.

The ranking defines “healthy” using factors like population health, education, food and nutrition, housing, etc.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, housing was Teton County’s lowest score — 50.1 out of 100-point scale. Equally as predictable: the 90.7 score for environment.

Teton County’s highest score was for infrastructure — 94.3.

“Knowing how such factors interact to create a healthier community – or a sicker one – is an important first step toward targeting resources where they’ll do the most good. And geography offers a powerful lens through which to focus reform,” U.S. News reports. “The U.S. News Healthiest Communities rankings measure crucial health-related components of society with the aim of empowering citizens, health care leaders and officials to make decisions about policies and practices that can improve health outcomes for all.”
