JACKSON, Wyo. — The company behind the Ultimate Towner has announced that the obstacle course race will not take place this year.
In a Thursday news release, the event’s producer Grand Dynamics International stated that the race launched in 2012 as the Tough Towner. It was described as a community challenge with obstacle course features, and it became a unique and energetic annual event. Grand Dynamics International did not indicate the reason for calling off this year’s race.
“Combining elements of an Amazing Race, obstacle course, scavenger hunt, and downtown celebration, the event created an unforgettable experience designed for participants of all ages and abilities,” reads the statement.
Last year’s Ultimate Towner was the 12th race, having taken one year off during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was created as a fundraising initiative that supported numerous local nonprofits and community organizations including: Teton Adaptive Sports, Teton County Search and Rescue Foundation, Children’s Learning Center, Teton Habitat, Community Entry Services and Women in the Tetons. Typically held the third Sunday in May, the Ultimate Towner featured physical obstacles, team missions, local trivia, costumes, music and scavenger hunts.
“The Ultimate Towner has always been about more than a race,” Grand Dynamics International Founder Tim Walther said in the news release. “It was designed to create connection, adventure, laughter, challenge, and community pride. We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers, sponsors, nonprofits, local businesses, musicians, staff, and thousands of participants who made the event possible over the last 13 years.”
This is the latest in a string of canceled events in Jackson, which includes the 2026 World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb and the 29029 Everesting event also held at Snow King.
