ALTA, Wyo. — Come race your friends, neighbors or co-workers at Grand Targhee this month!
The Targhee Cup Adult Ski Race League will begin on Thursday, February 13 and will continue over the next four Thursdays through March 5. The event, hosted by Grand Targhee Resort and the Teton Valley Ski Education Foundation (TVSEF), raises money for TVSEF to take local youth to the next level of skiing and snowboarding.
The Targhee Cup is a fun and social adult race league open to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Cash awards and bragging rights will be presented to the top three winning teams after the final race on Thursday, March 5.
Each team can have up to six members, and at least one member must be of the opposite gender. Each team member will ski two runs from 2-4 p.m. on race days, one giant slalom run and one slalom run. The combined times of each individual run will be scored, and teams will receive a total score for every race that will count toward the overall series results.
Results will be posted to the Targhee Cup website following each race, and the cumulative scores for the entire series will be used to determine the winners.
The cost to register is $550 per team and checks should be made out to TVSEF. Each team member must also fill out waivers for Grand Targhee Resort and the Teton Valley Ski Education Foundation. To register, please visit the TVSEF Targhee Cup Adult League website. Registration closes Friday.
The winning team will receive a $200 cash purse, Grand Teton Distillery Vodka, long-sleeve tees and beanies! In addition, the second-place team will receive a $100 cash prize and the third-place team will receive a $50 cash prize.
